Excessive eyelid laxity can be caused by obstructive sleep apnea, sleeping position or chronic eye rubbing. As a result of this syndrome, eyelids are extremely loose, saggy and may block the upper part of vision. A form of chronic conjunctivitis (pink eye) also is associated with this syndrome. Floppy Eyelid Syndrome often requires treatment of the sleep apnea and/or eyelid surgery.
