Blepharoplasty / Eyelid Lift

Blepharoplasty / Eyelid Lift

Blepharoplasty, or an eyelid lift, is a rewarding and beneficial procedure to reduce excess, sagging skin around the eyes, which can improve your sight by increasing your peripheral vision. Blepharoplasty also restores a more youthful appearance of the eyes and gives you a natural, refreshed look.

Patients with excess upper eyelid skin (dermatochalasis) will often have symptoms of heavy eyelids, diminished peripheral vision or difficulty reading. This usually improves with manual elevation of the eyelid and eyebrow tissues. Browaches or irritation within the skin folds are also symptoms of excess eyelid tissue.

Surgery to remove the excess eyelid skin, blepharoplasty, will often alleviate these symptoms and restore the peripheral vision to its normal state. Surgery is performed by making small incisions along the natural skin lines of the eyelids, allowing the removal of tissue. The surgery typically takes 20 to 30 minutes as an outpatient with mild sedation at an ambulatory surgical center. In select patients, surgery may be performed in the office setting without intravenous sedation. Initial swelling after surgery usually resolves within one to two weeks. Our detailed after-surgery recovery regimen, and guidance will minimize discomfort, swelling, bruising and ensure a speedy recovery.  We also offer cosmetic products to help speed the healing process and augment the cosmetic outcome.
