Blepharospasm results in involuntary twitching of the face and eyelid muscles. This can cause an inability to open the eyes and irregular facial movements, impairing driving and reading vision. This impairs all activities of daily living and can be socially debilitating as well. Dr. Brannan has many years of experience with these rare diseases and has treated hundreds of patients.
The variations of the disease include facial spasm, blepharospasm, hemi-facial spasm, apraxia of eyelid movement and myokymia. After an evaluation, treatment may include Medical BOTOX® injections, surgery and/or further neurologic work up.
